Project Number: FRSP 287611 & 311025,
The scope of this project consists of a pavement preservation treatment for Route 010, Lee Drive. Theproject is located at the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lee Drive is a two-lane asphalt road with a chip seal surface, 20 feet wide and approximately 4.7 miles in length. Lee Drive will receive a shallow mill and a new double chip seal surface. The chips will be tan in color and work will take place on the paved surfaces of the roads.
The project will provide a safe pedestrian access to Coolidge Dedication Monument at the Lafayette Boulevard traffic circle and North Lee Drive. The historic Lee Drive was constructed by the CCC and completedin 1940 and defines a corridor and accessway to the First and Second Battles of Fredericksburg. The crosswalk at
Lafayette Blvd ends in the middle of the triangular grass area and the Coolidge Dedication Monument. The project will construct a simple pedestrian access walkway to the center of the monument and a perimeter walkway to connect to the
rest of Lee Drive. Low-profile bollards will be installed along the perimeter of the grass triangle area.
